As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies - in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

In-Service Prayer
<

Prayer ministries in a church cultivate a strong spiritual foundation, as they provide dedicated spaces for seeking God's guidance and interceding for both personal and communal needs. These ministries foster a deep sense of community and support, allowing members to lift each other up in times of joy and struggle. They also enhance the church's mission by focusing on spiritual growth and the well-being of the congregation through consistent prayer. By prioritizing prayer, these ministries help to create a culture of faith and reliance on God, strengthening the overall health and unity of the church body.
|
Mission: The Mission of the Prayer Shawl ministry is to support and pray for people often known only to God. We communicate a tangible sense of God’s love with our prayers and gifts of handmade items of comfort and care.
Volunteer Involvement: The prayer shawl ministry meets once a month at the church to work on our projects and pray. If you can’t make most of the meetings, that is okay - but you will miss some great fellowship! All skill levels are welcome. We have prayers and patterns to share and love to encourage new crocheters and knitters. How to Get Involved: Contact Micul Ann Morse at [email protected] Prayer Shawl Project Guidelines: Types of Yarns: Yarns should be new and clean. Do not use donated yarn or yard sale yarn unless it is fresh and has its original ball band for identifying the fiber. In general, yarns should be machine washable and dryable and hypo-allergenic. This usually means acrylic. Cotton, tencel, microfiber and similar yarns may also be used; items made from these yarns should be clearly labeled so that they can be given to people sensitive to acrylic. Wool, wool blends and similar animal fibers should not be used. Garment Guidelines:
Pocket Prayer Shawls/ Prayer Squares: Prayer squares are a significant part of our support ministry to one another as well as playing a role in our outreach ministry. In addition to being given to new members, children attending Vacation Bible Camp, and so on, a supply of squares is available in the narthex. Yarn used should meet the above guidelines for being clean and fresh, but using up whatever is in your “stash” is acceptable. Prayer squares offer a great way to experiment with pattern stitches. Micah 6:8

Service in the community is crucial for a church as it demonstrates the practical application of faith and fosters a tangible connection between congregants and their broader surroundings. It allows the church to address real needs and make a positive impact, reflecting the teachings of compassion and love. Discipleship is equally important as it nurtures spiritual growth and deepens individuals' understanding of their faith, guiding them to live out their beliefs in meaningful ways. Together, service and discipleship strengthen the church’s mission, enhance communal bonds, and create a vibrant, supportive environment where faith and action converge.
