Students Serving at Church of the Resurrection
Regular Opportunities
First Fruits Farm- ResStudents partners with FaithWorks regularly to plan trips to First Fruits Farm to help with projects or harvest food. Students are encouraged to sign up to serve with their families, as it’s a great way for all ages to serve together. We normally have a good turnout of students for First Fruits Farm days!
Thanksgiving and Easter basket packing- Our students help sort, package, and pray over the Thanksgiving and Easter baskets that our congregation donates around each of those holidays. This is a great way for students to give their time and actively participate in a ministry our whole church is a part of.
Baking- On a semi-regular basis, our students spend time baking together for our ResCares ministry and for boarding school and college students. These treats are then given to families in our church who receive a meal from ResCares or are mailed to students who don’t live at home.
Student Involvement at Res- There are many ways that our students can be involved in the life of the church, including as readers, greeters, ResKids helpers, AV team members, acolytes, and musicians. Students are also welcome to sign up with their parents for any FaithWorks project. Some students have loved serving at Helping Up Mission and At Jacob’s Well.
Annual Opportunities
Cuirim House Outreach Trip- Cuirim House is located in Nogales, Mexico and is based on the rhythms and disciplines of traditional Celtic monastery life. Cuirim House partners with local churches to establish ministries that provide food, clothing, home improvements, and relational supports that increase community and hope. Each summer, we take a group of high school students to Cuirim House for a week to help build up this community through manual labor and outreach, a concrete way of putting our faith into action.
You can sign-up to be a part of our Cuirim House Outreach Trip if you are currently in 8th-12th grade (rising freshmen in high school are welcome to attend either or both trips). Sign-ups for this trip begin in December and end February 28th. Spots cannot be guaranteed for late sign-ups. Contact Anna Burden to sign-up.
Why I serve?
"I enjoyed the Nogales mission trip because we were able to interact with the local people and assist community needs. It was really rewarding seeing everyone come together for a play at the church that we helped build and be a part of the community." - Sophia Verbic (12th grade).
Baltimore Outreach Trip- Each summer, we take students on an overnight, week-long mission trip to Baltimore City. We partner with local ministries including At Jacob’s Well, Helping Up Mission, and BE Transformed. Service projects can include hosting a community VBS, giving out food, doing yardwork, and praying for people.
You can sign up to be a part of the Baltimore Outreach Trip if you are currently in 6th-8th grade. Rising 6th grade students may ask for special permission to join the trip, but are not guaranteed space. Sign-ups for this trip begin in January and end April 30th. High school students who have already been on this trip are invited to apply to be student leaders. Contact Anna Burden to sign-up.
Why I serve:
“On my mission trip, I got so much closer to both the community and God. I can’t wait for my next mission trip, we always have so much fun!" - Catie Grace O’Connor
