Baltimore Sports Academy partners with churches in economically disadvantaged, high-risk, underserved and under-resourced communities and provides elementary-aged youth with sports programming, academic support, and holistic personal development to become complete athletes. BSA is way more than sports! They also provide tutoring along with sharing the gospel. Lessons on training in Godliness, character development, teamwork, and having a confident mindset are also part of the program.  82% of the families in the area BSA serves are economically disadvantaged and only 10% of the students at the local elementary school are proficient in math and reading. There are no affordable summer camps, after-school programs or year-round sports leagues. Youth in these circumstances are at greater risk of adverse behavior and need help.

How can Res members serve?
  • Bring and serve lunch one day a week during the six-week 2023 BSA Summer Camp from 11:30-1 PM. Camp will run for six weeks starting the week of June 26 and ending August 4. Monday through Thursdays 9am-1pm. 20-30 campers each week.

  • Assist BSA's Academic Coach with tutoring one day a week for one hour between 9:45 AM-11:45 AM during the day at the summer camp or after school. Must be 8th grade or older.

  • Assist BSA's Sports Coaches with practices and/or games once a week during summer camp between 9:45-11:45 AM, during the school year after school, or a weeknight for 1 ½ hours.

Why I serve?
"I have had great fun and joy assisting with our son Russell (13) in the BSA after-school program. We saw how excited the kids in the program were to receive a place to exercise and learn new skills that they can apply not only to the court, but to the classroom and life as well. A ministry of presence and encouragement is all you need and goes a long way! Sports and exercise are a great way to connect and grow the body, mind and spirit. Knowing that the gospel was being shared in a fun way through sports and activity really excited our family. There are many ways to serve BSA through food donations, tutoring, and assistant coaching. We are excited that this ministry could be a place where our youth groups and multi-generational people and families who love sports could connect and serve an under-resourced and underserved community in the Dundalk area."
