ABOUT SYDNEY GEORGE
Sydney started playing piano at the age of 4 and has been privileged to accompany choirs, soloists, and numerous churches in York County, including the York Gospel Center, Temple Baptist of York, Encounter Bible Church, Spring Grove Alliance, and currently at her home congregation, Church of the Open Door. Her desire is that all glory go to God for she and Gladys’ collaborations!
ABOUT GLADYS DOUGLAS:
Gladys sums up the goal of her music ministry using the words of Bach, “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.”
Beginning piano lessons as a child and organ in college, Gladys studied music and later went on to earn her Masters degree. Her teaching career spanned almost four decades and impacted 1st through 12th graders in MA, NJ, PA, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where, collectively, she taught music classes, piano and band instruments, and directed choirs and band. At her home congregation, Church of the Open Door, in York, PA, Gladys led the adult choir for 20 years, the senior citizens choir, Joyful Hearts, for another 20, and played the organ for 40 years. During COVID, she asked the Lord what she could do to encourage others. He answered by giving her the idea to call people and play a hymn on the organ. She continues to do this and gives praise and thanks to God for His strength and blessings each day!
