SPRING 2020: THE RESCUE BEGINS
EXPERIENCE THE STORY
June 21: Three Parables
Fair or Unfair (activity)
Supplies: Two pieces of paper one with the word “fair” and one with the word “unfair” (for younger children consider using green marker or paper for “fair” and red for “unfair” or if you can, print pictures of thumbs up and thumbs down for non-readers.
Life is not fair. Sometimes the unfairness hurts us, and other times it seems to help us.
Place signs on opposite sides of the room or yard. Read the following scenarios and ask your child to run to the sign that represents how they feel about the situation:
Often, our ideas of what is fair do not match with God’s ideas about fairness. God provided a way for us to live with Him forever even though we deserve death. Jesus died on the cross to make the way for us to experience life. We celebrate when lost people are saved because we know that we didn’t deserve salvation and God still provided it to us.

- One kids does his homework and another kid copies his answers. They get the same grade.
- The birthday girl at a party gets the biggest piece of cake.
- Two kids try out for a baseball team, but only one of them makes it.
- One man breaks a law, but someone else goes to jail instead of him.
- A kid in your class forgot to study for a spelling test. He gets a bad grade.
- You did not clean your room before a fun trip with a friend. Your parents decide to let you go anyway.

Sweep!
Supplies: broom (or mop, duster, etc.)
Provide a broom or other cleaning tool for your child and give them a room to sweep (or part of a room). For younger children it may be helpful to put a masking tape a square on the ground to sweep all the crumbs/dust into.
Jesus told a parable about a woman who lost one of her silver coins. She swept the house and searched everywhere until she found it. She told her friends and neighbors “Let’s celebrate because I have found my lost coin.” Jesus said God’s angels celebrate when even just one person is sorry for their sin and turns back to God. Jesus is the one who seeks and saves lost people, He opens their eyes to see Him and changes their hearts to follow Him.
Pray
Thank God for being a loving Father who joyfully welcomes into His home both people who have wandered away from Him and people who have trusted in themselves instead of in Jesus.
