Lay Pastoral Care at Resurrection

On Sunday, November 4th eight Pastoral Care Ministers were commissioned at our worship service by the Reverend David Drake and the Reverend James Raun, with prayer and the laying on of hands.  Under the mentorship of Rev. Raun and Dedi Whitaker, these eight have been trained over the past several months, and are now prepared to serve our congregation in the role of listening friends to provide spiritual support, prayer, and encouragement, and to bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend Sunday worship.

Our Lay Pastoral Ministers will seek to walk along side any member of our congregation as they encounter the various ‘slings and arrows’ of day to day life. They have been commissioned to bring the encouragement, power and the love of Jesus Christ as they minister in His name.   Working in close connection with David Drake, it is our hope that this intentional form of care for one another will help provide more and more opportunities for ongoing care and support.  The Lay Pastoral Team will also serve to lighten the load of responsibility on David for the expanding needs of our growing congregation.
