Stewarding our resources to further God's KingdomGiving our financial resources and time is how we participate with God in proclaiming the gospel and serving others. It is a joy and a privilege to give, an exciting challenge to follow God's calling to expand His Kingdom. As Christians we believe that giving honors God, fulfills our purpose, and blesses others.
The following Biblical values reflect Church of the Resurrection's perspective on giving: Biblical giving is joyful 2 Corinthians 9:7 tells us that God loves a cheerful giver. Probably because a joyful attitude reflects a growing understanding of giving in response to what he’s done for us. Biblical giving is worship Giving is a part of our worship of God. Through our giving we have the opportunity to share in the work that God is doing. Biblical giving challenges our addiction to materialism Giving of our first fruits, not our crumbs, reminds our hearts that we are wonderfully dependent on our Father for all that we have. It redirects our trust. Biblical giving is thoughtful That is, it is prayerfully considered and planned (2 Corinthians 9:5, 1 Corinthians 16:1-3). Rather than basing our giving on how much money is in our pocket today, we plan our giving carefully and prayerfully, in accordance with our ability, our income and our responsibilities. Biblical giving challenges our view of God Do you think of God as a giver or a taker? The Bible reveals God as a generous God, giving and providing for the needs of his children. He even goes so far as to tell us not to worry about our needs, reminding us that he takes care of even the plants and animals. |
